Hiddenite Festival Road Race Half Marathon & 10K

Saturday, September 24, 2016 • Hiddenite, NC • Course Map

Held in combination with the Hiddenite Celebration of the Arts, the Hiddenite Half Marathon made its debut in 2007 as part of this annual crafts, food and entertainment fair that draws more than 10,000 visitors every September to this hamlet nestled in North Carolina’s Brushy Mountains.

Limited to 250 runners, the half-marathon takes runners on a paved, hilly, rural point-to-point course along country backroads, past a number of churches and forests, and within view of scenic Rocky Face Mountain, and now features a 10K race in addition to the 13.1-mile race route.

The race starts at 8:30 AM at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in nearby Taylorsville, and the finish line is at the Lucas Mansion at the Hiddenite Center. Packet pickup and race day registration are at the Hiddenite Elementary School.

Other than the fall festival, the town of Hiddenite is perhaps best known for its world-famous Emerald Hollow Mine, the nation’s only emerald mine open for prospecting to the public. The mine is home to more than 60 different varieties of naturally occurring gems, and has been the subject of profiles on both the National Geographic Channel and the Discovery Channel.
