Boy Scout Half Marathon, 10K & 5K

Saturday, August 24, 2024 • Bowling Green, OH • Course Map

Set for its annual late summer running here in northern Ohio, which draws several hundred runners each year in all three races combined, Bowling Green’s Soaring Eagle Runs features three race distances — the Boy Scout Half Marathon, 10K, the Tenderfoot 5K and the “Tiger Cub” half-mile run for kids.

Each of the races is designed to get both local Boy Scouts and members of the community involved in this event, to promote both athleticism and an active and healthy lifestyle as well as the Scouting values and traditions, as Scouts of all ages will participate in the race by volunteering at the start and finish line as well as the water stations throughout the course.

The event’s Boy Scout Half Marathon follows an out-and-back loop course that starts and finishes under the grandstands at the Wood County Fairgrounds on West Poe Road.

From there, Your run will take you through eclectic downtown to the Slippery Elm Trail, out to Haskins Rd, before taking a right onto Newton Rd. and another right onto Fairview ave. Runners will make their way along Main St. in Downtown Bowling Green and through the Black Swamp Preserve.

After exiting the preserve runners will take a right onto Wintergarden Rd. and follow Pine alley Dr. out to Mitchell Rd. for a view of the BG Wind Farm.

After the wind farm, the course takes a right onto Conneaut Ave, which meets up once again with Fairview ave just one mile from the finish. Quick turns on Poe Rd. Jefferson Dr. and Brim Rd. will take runners back to the finish line at the fairgrounds.

“The half marathon course aims to highlight the best of Bowling Green. The start and finish line is at the Wood County Fairgrounds. Your run will take you through eclectic downtown BG to the Slippery Elm Trail, out to Mitchell Rd. where you can view the BG wind turbines, through a quiet golf course neighborhood, past City Park, concluding with a causeway finish inside the Wood County Fairgrounds. This course has little elevation changes, smooth paved roads, and will show you Bowling Green, Ohio like never before.”

“The Tenderfoot 5K course is a loop course beginning with the half marathon on Poe Rd., leading north up Haskins Rd. to Newton, back down Brim to a finish along the causeway of the Wood County fairgrounds. The course has little elevation changes, smooth paved roads, and is expected to provide very fast race times.”

    Thank you.
