Get your race season started with the Bend Marathon & Half Marathon, taking runners through downtown Bend and showing off the beauty of the area.
The marathon and half marathon courses share the first seven miles of the course, which begins on Oregon Avenue in downtown Bend. From there, the course contines south through downtown Bend and back north along the Deschutes River before crossing the river and continuing north along residential areas in Bend.
Just past mile 4 marks the turnaround, which sends runners south along the Deschutes River Trail before crossing the river again and heading back through downtown Bend and continuing south along the river, running around the shops at the Old Mill District.
The second half of the course takes runners across the Deschutes River for a third time and then through Riverbend Park before heading north onto the scenic Mount Washington Drive.
The course alternates between road sections and multi-use trail sections for the remainder of the course, leading runners through Sunset Park and through more residential neighborhoods before heading across the river and back toward downtown Bend and the finish line.
Race organizers note that the half marathon’s time limit is 3 hours, or 13:44 average mile, due to requirements from the city.
