With a fast course that takes runners over gentle hills through
Auburn's scenic bicycle trails and paths, the Auburn Classic Half
Marathon is also a benefit for the American Cancer Society. The event
also features what race organizers call the
Children's Half Marathon, open to any interested kids who would like to
complete a half-marathon over a period of many weeks. Kids are
encouraged to start in the fall and run or walk about one mile per
week. On the day of the race, the children who participate will run the
last 0.6 miles of the half with that day's runners and finish at the
main finish line.
