Alaska > Run the Rock Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K & 5K
Kodiak, AK • Saturday, October 13, 2012 • Course Map
A coast-to-coast run on "Alaska's Emerald Isle", Kodiak Island. A chance to run a beautiful course, through the Coast Guard base and toward Anton Larsen Bay, ending at the Bear Valley Golf Course for a BBQ. There will be a spaghetti feed the evening before the race for marathon, half marathon and 10k runners.
The full marathon starts at 8:00 AM at the Coast Guard base near the Kodiak Municipal Airport, while those running in the half marathon, 10K and 5K will start their races in nearby Kodiak Station, at the Bear Valley Golf Course. Last year we had over 200 runners, an incredible turn out for our small community. We welcome you to use our race as an excuse to visit the last frontier!
October is a transitional month in Kodiak. Typically the beginning of the month resembles more fall and the end is rainy and windy, similar to our winter. It will be chilly in the morning, average temperatures around 40. However, last year the day ended up in the 50's and sunny. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
