Event Details

Runners get a chance to take in the sometimes hilly but always scenic streets of the home of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville's Hogeye Marathon, Half Marathon & Relays, a springtime race event that starts and finishes on the city's beautiful Fayetteville Square and takes runners along an out-and-back course that winds through downtown, the university campus and past Razorback Park Golf Course near the half-way turnaround point.

Filled with many rolling and some steep hills along both the half- and full-marathon courses, the race begins near the Cosmopolitan Fayetteville Hotel at the corner of East and Mountain Streets, as runners in both the 26.2- and the 13.1-mile races share the same course for the first six and a half miles. The course winds in a roughly northwesterly direction through town, with many twists and turns along the city streets, as well as long straightaway sections along Maple Street, Sang Avenue and Porter Road.

Just over 360 runners crossed the finish line in the half-marathon alone at the race's 2008 running -- in addition to the nearly 100 full marathon finishers -- so the race offers a sizeable crowd with plenty of fellow travelers along the race route, without drawing overwhelming crowds. The 2010 running of the race will be its 334th annual, and is scheduled to start at 7:30 AM.

Race Weather & Climate

In April, average monthly temperatures range between 69°F and 46°F, while rainfall totals average around 4.33 inches for the month.
