California > Big Money Run Half Marathon
Vista, CA  •  Saturday, August 11, 2012  •  Course Map

Held in the gorgeous Southern California town of Vista, is a unique half marathon event that promises to be unlike any other in the country. The event, coined the Big Money Run Half Marathon, comes with a tagline that promises it is one of the fastest and most exciting half marathons in the country.

That's because the race offers numerous cash prizes for those who place in the top spots of their individual divisions. Over $18,000 in prizes are scheduled to be given away during the run, with prizes ranging from $1,000 to $100 depending on the category.

Runners will start the inaugural Big Money Run at 8:00 AM at the Vista Sports Complex just off Melrose and Bobier Drive, and from there they'll follow an out-and-back loop course mostly on the streets of downtown Vista. Traffic will be cleared to ensure an easy and open route for runners. There is a halfway point in the loop that runners will have to pass by 9:30 AM to stay in the race and all runners will have to leave the course if they're still running at 11:00 AM.

The race will unfold along a complete circle around Vista's Brengle Terrace Park, which features several sports fields, dog parks and natural wildlife as well as a community garden. The race loop is designed to be a flat course with wide roads and trails for runners and will take a simple route around the park and surrounding areas of Vista.

The exact details of the course map are set to be published in summer of 2012, and will feature more specifics on water stations and exact routes around the Brengle Terrace Park area. The course is designed to have runner finish near the start line, onto a race pad at the Vista Sports Complex. One the run is finished, there will be a festival for runners that feature area vendors, live music and a beer garden in the park.
