California > Davisville Moo-nlight Half Marathon, 10K, 5K & Kids' 1-Mile
Davis, CA • Saturday, July 13, 2013 • Course Map
Set for its 4th annual running in the summer of 2012 along the neighborhood streets of this city in Northern California's Sacramento Valley, the Davisville Moo-nlight Half Marathon & 5K is a night-time road race organized by Fleet Feet Sports of Davis and designed as a fundraiser for the city's Davis Schools Foundation.
The out-and-back course for the race will start and finish at Fleet Feet Sports, located at 615 Second Street in Davis, just a few blocks away from the city's Central Park and Davis Farmers Market. From there, runners follow a route that takes them northward along B Street to Community Park and the North Davis Elementary School, where they run through the park roads and then up through the road that winds through Covell Park, toward the neighborhoods along Anderson Road and Sandpiper Drive.
This stretch of the race, which runs from about the midway point between the first and second mile markers all the way through past the mile 11 marker, takes runners along three loops through the Old North Davis and North Davis Greenbelt, a stretch of parks and paved biking, walking and running paths that connect the northern, southern, eastern and western parts of the city.
While the elevation indicator on the course map indicates some rolling hills that runners can expect to encounter along the top portion of the loop (along Sandpiper and Mockingbird Place), the elevation change amounts to a change of only a few feet in elevation, which means runners can expect a largely fast and flat race course throughout.
Just over 3,600 runners and walkers crossed the finish line in the three running events combined in 2012, including more than 1,500 runners in the half marathon alone. This evening run has a scheduled starting time of 7:00 PM for the 5K and 10K, followed by a 7:10 PM start for the half marathon -- the course will be closed three hours later, at 11:10 PM.
