Event Details

Labor Day weekend every year brings the annual running of California's Disneyland Half Marathon, which saw more than 11,000 runners and wheelchair competitors finish the race at its 2009 running. Fast and featuring just a few hills throughout its 13.1 miles, the race takes runners through both Disneyland Park and Disney's California Adventure Park, as well as through the baseball field at nearby Angel Stadium, the home of Major League Baseball's Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

The out-and-back course for the race starts on the park's western edge, near the Lilo Parking Lot in what is known as the park's "Downtown Disney" district. From there, runners follow the streets around the western and southern edges of the park and then head inside, running north through Sunshine Plaza and past attractions like the Grizzly River Run, Space Mountain and the Matterhorn Bobsled area.

After a quick run through Sleeping Beauty's Castle and the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, the course next takes runners outside the park, out onto Disneyland Drive. The next stretch of the race begins a long, gradual uphill between the mile 3 and mile 6 markers, as the race route runs along Anaheim Boulevard, Lewis Street, Ball Road and State College Boulevard, on its way to the course's westernmost stretch, which runs past the Honda Center at Arrowhead Pond, and then heads south to Angel Stadium.

The next stretch is undoubtedly a favorite of many participants, as the course takes runners into the stadium and through the infield of the Angels' diamond, running past a quick loop around the bases and then back out of the stadium and into the parking lot next door. Next, it's out into Gene Autry Way, which begins the final three miles of the course and take runners back toward Disneyland for the finish near the ESPN Zone, just north of the park's Paradise Pier hotel.
