Event Details

The late winter of 2010 brings this city's second annual running of a marathon and half-marathon race event, as the local nonprofit organization Pasadena Forward hosts the Pasadena Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K along a relatively tight out-and-back course that is set to wind through the neighborhoods and city streets of this town within shouting distance of Los Angeles and Hollywood. Along the way, runners will pass local landmarks like the world-famous Rose Bowl, the Pasadena City Hall and run through Arroyo and Brookside Parks.

Both the full and half marathons start and finish their routes near the campus of Pasadena City College, on East Colorado Boulevard. From there, the loop course for the half (and the full) runs in a clockwise direction through the city, along what is largely fast and flat terrain for the race's first several miles. Runners will encounter the hilliest parts of the race around the middle third of the course, when the route winds through the parks along the Arroyo Seco Channel.

After running through Brookside Park and then heading up toward the Rose Bowl, the course takes runners on a turn toward the east, along West Mountain Street and East Orange Grove Boulevard for a long straightaway, and then turns onto North Wilson Street, Maple and then North Hill Avenue for the finish back at the campus. Because of the availability of parking in the Pasadena City College area, runners are encourage to carpool to the race, and the number of entrants is expected to include about 14,000 runners, walkers and cyclists. In addition to the running races, the event will also feature a bike touring race and a 3.1-mile event for both runners and walkers.

Note: The description above and the course map below refer to the 2009 course. Please check back later for the most updated race course info.
