California > Rock'n River Half Marathon
Rancho Cordova, CA • Saturday, October 13, 2012 • Course Map
The biking, walking and running trails that follow the winding American River between Rancho Cordova and nearby Sacramento serve as the course for the all-new Rock'n River Half Marathon, which makes its second annual running in mid-October 2012 here along some of the same trails used at the annual springtime River City Marathon & Half Marathon.
The trails are collectively known as the Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail or the American River Bike Trail, which stretch some 32 miles between the area known as "old Sacramento" at their westernmost point all the way east to Folsom. For the race, runners will make their way along nearly 13 miles of the trails, starting at the Lower Sunrise Recreation Area just off Sunrise Boulevard, and finishing just across the river from the campus of California State University, on University Avenue.
The scheduled starting time for the race is 8:30 AM, and runners will have five hours to complete the race's 13.1 miles -- which means that both runners and walkers should have plenty of time to complete the course, as the race is open to both. Shuttle bus transportation will be provided on the day of the race from the finish line to the starting line, beginning at 7:00 AM.
