California's Wounded Warrior Half Marathon takes runners on an out-and-back tour of Point Mugu and Naval Base Ventura County, which lies just over an hour's drive west from downtown Los Angeles.
What this race is all about -- a group of injured veterans proudly pose for the camera at race's September 2011 running, which saw just over 660 runners and walkers cross the finish line in the 13.1-mile, 5K and one-mile race. The race is run as a tribute to American service men and women who have been injured in combat in recent U.S. conflicts, especially those in Iraq and Afghanistan.
