Details
The first in a series of Southern California-based trail races known as
the XTERRA SoCal Trail Run Series, which takes place over the second
half of 2008 and the first half of 2009, the XTERRA Point Mugu Xduro
Trail Run is a race that offers two challenging distances for trail
runners -- the 11K and the half-marathon distance 18K, both of which
will test even experienced trail runners along a course that winds
through the mountainous terrain of Point Mugu State
Park, located in the Santa Monica Mountains just outside the cities of
Oxnard and Thousand Oaks.
Featuring an out-and-back loop course that starts and finishes at the
park's La Jolla Canyon beach near the Pacific Coast Highway, the race
will lead runners over a grueling course filled with rocky
bluffs, rugged hills, two major river canyons, and wide grass valleys.
Point Mugu State Park holds over 70 miles of running trails with five
miles of breathtaking ocean shoreline that will hopefully make athletes
forget about the painstaking challenge before them.
This is the first of seven races in the 2008-2009 XTERRA SoCal Trail
Run
Series and is the first opportunity for runners to earn points toward
their series total. Top finishers in the series will earn free entry to
the XTERRA National Trail Running Championship Xduro in Bend, Oregon.

Weather & Climate
Nestled along the coast of Southern California, about 62 miles -- or
roughly an
hour's drive -- west of Los Angeles, the city of Oxnard tends to see
mild to moderately warm weather virtually year-round, with rainfall
usually only in the late fall, winter and early spring. In September,
average monthly temperatures range between 74°F and
59°F, while rainfall totals average just over a third of an
inch for the month.

For the 11K:
$40 if registered by August 27, 2009
$45 from Aug. 28 - September 23
$50 on the day of the race, if spots are available
For the 18K:
$55 if registered by August 27, 2009
$60 from Aug. 28 - September 23
$65 on the day of the race, if spots are available
