Event Details

Located just over 50 miles south of the well-known ski resort of Steamboat Springs, the Kremmling Trail Races (which includes both a half marathon and a 10K race) take place through some of this mountainous area's most scenic terrain. The half marathon starts at the Kremmling town square and continues up the area known as the Kremmling Cliffs, where runners, once they reach the top of the cliffs, are treated to spectacular views of nearby Gore Canyon and the Eaglesnest Wilderness Area.

The course then continues along a flatter route for the next few miles, crossing Muddy Creek and taking participants along a one-and-a-half-mile cow track, which joins with a dirt road with a slight downhill incline. The rest of the course takes runners through the public land areas of Red Mountain, along rolling hills and single- and double-track trails, with one last major uphill.

Race Weather & Climate

The early pre-fall weeks can bring widely varying weather to the Kremmling area, as September temperatures average between 34°F and 70°F. The area tends to see only moderate precipitation during the month, with an average of just under 1.2 inches of rainfall in September.
