Event Details

Organized by the Norwalk running group known as the Lightfoot Runners, the Sam Elpern Memorial Half Marathon is part of the group's summer running series and follows a scenic loop course through shaded residential neighborhoods along the local area known as the Merrit Parkway, from the starting and finish line at Norwalk's Fox Run Elementary School. Nearly 150 runners crossed the finish line at the race's September 2008 running, which was postponed for a week due to inclement weather but enjoyed mild and overcast weather a week later, which was perfect for running.

Race Weather & Climate

Nestled near the coast along the southwestern corner of Connecticut, just over an hour's drive from New York City, the town of Norwalk can see sunny and warm weather conditions in the late summer, as well as sometimes moderately cool conditions. In September, average monthly temperatures range between 75°F and 53°F, while rainfall totals average about 4.54 inches for the month.
