Details
More than 300 runners crossed the finish line under beautifully clear,
blue skies at the December 2008 running of Florida's Colonial Bank
Brandon Half Marathon & 5K, which takes runners on a fast, flat
course through the streets of Brandon and nearby Tampa. Run entirely on
paved surfaces, with a few gradual uphill and downhill stretches, the
race takes runners over highways and through residential neighborhoods
in this community that lies just to the east of the Tampa-St.
Petersburg metropolitan area. Finishers' medals were presented to every
runner who crossed the finish line, as well as trophies for those
runners who placed in their respective age groups.
The half marathon -- which is organized and run by the local Brandon
Running Association athletic club -- race starts and finishes at
Brandon's Sports
Authority athletic store at the corner of Lumsden and Providence Roads,
and features a 7:00 AM starting time, followed by those participating
in the 5K run at 8:00 AM.
