Details
Central Florida runners get a chance to wrap up their running season on
the last weekend of the year at the Orlando area's Florida Marathon,
Half Marathon & 5K, which begins in nearby Clermont and runs
along the West Orange bike path all the way to Winter Garden and back,
for a long, fast and mostly flat course off the roadways of the
suburban communities between the two towns and through west Orange
County, with occasional hilly stretches throughout the course.
All three races in the event are out-and-back races that start at the
National Training Center for Sports, Health & Fitness on Citrus
Tower Boulevard in Clermont. From there, where runners leave the
starting line at 8:00 AM for the half- and full marathons (and 8:30 AM
for the 5K), the course winds its way eastward toward Winter Garden,
for six and a half miles out and six and a half miles back along paved
bicycle, jogging and walking trails.
Runners will finish the race back where they started, at the National
Training Center, a 300-acre athletic facility that hosts a number of
athletic events throughout the year, from the Florida Marathon, Half
Marathon & 5K to triathlons, soccer, swimming and aquatics and
kids' sporting events throughout the year.

Weather & Climate
Situated in the middle of central Florida, just over a half-hour's
drive west of Orlando, the town of Clermont typically sees mild to
moderately cool weather conditions in the mid-winter season, with
relatively low precipitation compared to the rest of the year. In
December, average monthly temperatures range between 72°F and
50°F, while rainfall totals average around 2.4 inches for the
month.
