Details
Heading into its fifth annual running on Florida's race calendar in
2009, the Orlando Xtreme Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K & 5K
takes runners on a scenic off-road trail course through the Orlando
Wetlands
Park, a 1,650-acre man-made park filled with lush forests of hardwood
hammock trees, marshes and lakes, as well as more than 20 miles of
roads and trails designed for hiking, biking and running, located just
outside the town of Christmas, Fla.
With a point-to-point course that starts inside the park's interior and
finishes near one of the entrance roads along its southern edge, the
race takes runners along single-track trails and berm roads through the
park, along a route that makes three laps around the park to complete
the 13.1 miles of the half marathon. Along the race route, runners can
expect to see a wide variety of regional wildlife and migratory
waterfowl, including blue-winged and green-winged teal, wood storks,
white ibis and black-crowned night herons, among many others.
One of Florida's newer and smaller running events, the race attracts
just a few hundred runners in all events combined each year. Runners
leave the starting line for the official start of all races at 7:00 AM,
and the awards ceremony for the half marathon begins at 9:30 AM.

Weather & Climate
Known around the world of course as the home of Walt Disney World, the
city of Orlando rarely sees cold weather even in the winter, instead
experiencing mild to moderately warm weather conditions. In February,
average monthly temperatures range between 74°F and
51°F, while rainfall totals average about 2.35 inches for the
month.

$30 if registered by December 13, 2007
$40 from Dec. 14 - January 13, 2008
$50 from Jan. 14 - 31
$60 on the day of the race
