Details
A race that's grown in popularity with each passing year, the Walt
Disney World Half Marathon offers runners the chance to run through a
truly "magical" course, along a route through Disney's Magic Kingdom,
Epcot Center, MGM Studios and much more during what is usually
Orlando's best weather for running at any time of the year. Runners who
want to run this race need to think ahead, however -- the next chance
you'll have to run it is in January 2010, as the 2009 running of the
race has already sold out, with more than 30,000 runners signing up for
the race.
Run entirely on paved surfaces, this half-marathon follows an
out-and-back course through the park that starts and finishes at Epcot,
and it starts early -- half marathon participants are asked to be at
the starting line by 4:00 AM for the 6:00 AM start. The next day, half
participants are invited to join the full marathon participants for the
awards ceremony at the park's Downtown Disney Pleasure Island.
