Event Details

An annual late winter race that's held as part of the Maui Whale Festival in February each year, the Run For The Whales Half Marathon & 5K takes participants from the Fairmont Kea Lani resort near Polo Beach on Maui's southern coast on a route that runs from Wailea to Makena and back. Open to both runners and walkers, the half marathon and 5K are run as a benefit for marine and ocean education programs for Maui's schools, and the event also includes a 2K race for both runners and walkers.

Race Weather & Climate

Located along Maui's southwestern coast, about 11 miles from the island's Kahului Airport, the town of Kihei typically experiences mild to moderately warm weather conditions year-round, and usually low rainfall except in the early and mid-winter months. In February, the area's average monthly temperatures range between 81°F and 63°F, while rainfall amounts average around 1.6 inches for the month.

Fees

$38 for the half marathon, if registered by February 5, 2010
