Details
An annual late winter race that's held as part of the Maui Whale
Festival in February each year, the Run For The Whales Half Marathon
& 5K takes participants from the Fairmont Kea Lani resort near
Polo
Beach on Maui's southern coast on a route that runs from Wailea to
Makena and back. Open to both runners and walkers, the half marathon
and 5K are run as a benefit for marine and ocean education programs for
Maui's schools, and the event also includes a 2K race for both runners
and walkers.

Weather & Climate
Located along Maui's southwestern coast, about 11 miles from the
island's Kahului Airport, the
town of Kihei typically experiences mild to moderately warm weather
conditions year-round, and usually low rainfall except
in the early and mid-winter months. In February, the area's average
monthly temperatures range between 81°F and 63°F, while
rainfall amounts average around 1.6 inches for the month.

$38 for the half marathon, if registered by February 5, 2010
