Details
An out-and-back race that takes runners on a commemorative tour of the
site of the famous Teton Dam break, which inundated the nearby town of
Rexburg in 1976, the Teton Dam Marathon, Half Marathon and Relay offers
views of beautiful scenery, quaint towns and farmland and wide expanses
of open spaces.
The USATF-certified course for the half marathon begins and ends in
Rexburg's Smith Park, and winds along paved country roads and
tree-lined streets in the city. The half starting time is 8:00 AM, and
race organizers encourage runners planning on this race to include hill
training in their preparations, as the course's gentle, rolling hills
meet runners late in the race. The event usually host a small field of
runners, which past participants say adds to its personal, intimate
charm.
