Whether you are embarking on your first half marathon, looking for a
scenic fall race or for excellent warm-up your fall marathon
– the Foot Mechanics Half Madness 13.1 event is the race for
all runners who'd like to make their way to this northern Illinois
town, just outside Chicago.
Set in the historic town of Batavia, Illinois in Chicagoland's western
suburbs, you will find this quaint river town
warm, friendly and inviting. Race organizers have put together a
rolling course that will take athletes through these historic streets
and along the Fox River before finishing back at the start along the
River walk area.
The inaugural race in 2008 attracted 1,000 runners and earned the
accolades from racers, spectators, volunteers and city residents for
its organization and post race festivities. The committee is made up of
seasoned endurance athletes who put all of the practices in place to

Known for its beautiful fall weather, Batavia’s Northern
Illinois location allows them to boast about average September
temperatures of 75°F. Average rainfall this time of year is
about 3 inches monthly.
