Event
Details
Considered a great half-marathon for first-timers thanks to a course
that race organizers describe as "very flat and fast," the Muncie Mini
Marathon & 5K Run/Walk offer runners and walkers the chance to
run through both downtown city streets and along a stretch of the
city's Cardinal Greenway, a rails-to-trails initiative that has
converted the former CSX railroad along the White River into a biking,
hiking and walking trail for recreation.
The 13.1-mile mini marathon course is an out-and-back course that
starts and finishes at Muncie's downtown YMCA, at 500 South Mulberry
Street. From there, runners travel through the city along Main, Wysor
and High Streets toward the five-mile stretch of the Greenway that cuts
through the city along the banks of the White River. The paved pathway
contains little elevation change along the way, as runners cross over
trestle bridges and along wooded paths on their way along the
riverbanks.
The finish line lies back downtown at the YMCA, where organizers
prepare an all-you-can-eat breakfast for participants and spectators.
Registration will be available on race day starting at 6:15 AM (the
race starting time is 8:00 AM).
