Details
Take a running tour of the history of the settling of the American west
at the Olathe Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K, which runs through
the historic California, Oregon and Santa Fe Trails that wagon trains
once traveled by the thousands on their route toward the west. Fast and
mostly flat, the out-and-back course for the half marathon (it's a
point-to-point course for the full marathon) offers a perfect route for
runners of widely varying abilities.
The half-marathon course, which unfolds along the first 6 miles of the
marathon course and is paved throughout, starts in downtown Olathe at
the intersectino of Park & Cherry Streets. From there, the
course ventures eastward and then southward, following a somewhat
zigzag course through the city on its way toward sights like Waterworks
Park, which runners run through, Naval Air Park and the Great Mall of
the Great Plains, the half-way point and turnaround for the race.
Starting time for the half marathon (and the 5K, which shares the same
starting location) is 7:30 AM, and shuttle bus transportation to the
starting line will be provided.

conditions. Average temperatures in March range between 56°F
and 35°F, while precipitation amounts average about 2.74 inches
for the month.
