Festival Marathon
& Half Marathon
Louisville,
KY
Date
Saturday, April 24, 2010
Event
Details
With both a full and half-marathon event (which race organizers label
the "mini-marathon"), the Kentucky Derby Festival Marathon &
Half Marathon take runners past many of Louisville's most scenic city
sights, including the hallowed Churchill Downs, site of the
world-famous Kentucky Derby (as you surely guessed from the event's
title).
The race starts for both full and half-marathon participants
near Iroquois Park, and is a point-to-point race with a 6-mile loop in
the first half of the race, after which the course is mostly flat and
fast. Runners then are treated to views of Louisville's historic city
parks designed by Frederick Law Olmstead, the newly developed downtown
waterfront, southern Indiana and many diverse and scenic neighborhoods.
