Event Details

With a course that takes runners on a tour of this scenic town located near Acadia National Park and scenic Mount Desert Island, the Bar Harbor Half Marathon offers runners a challenging loop race with the start and finish line at the city's YMCA Atheltic Field. Most of the course for the half (9 miles) takes place on the Acadia Park's carriage paths, offering what race organizers say is an excellent running surface, surrounded by views of the forests, ponds and the waters of Eagle Lake, which lies in the center of the park. The race is open to both runners and walkers, who start an hour before the runners (at 7:30 AM).

Make sure to register early -- due to the fact that part of the race course is located inside Acadia National Park, the race is limited to 400 participants.

Race Weather & Climate

With temperatures that average between 56°F and 78°F in August, the Bar Harbor area tends to be mild to moderately warm in the late summer. Rainfall is a possibility, as area precipitation averages nearly 3 inches during the month.

Fees

$42 if registered before September 1, 2009
$50 after Sept. 1
