Set for its ninth annual running as summer is giving way to fall here in this small township that lies less than an hour's drive north from Detroit, the Curamus Terram Races take runners on an out-and-back tour of the nature trails, park roads and county roads here in Oakland Township, which help kick off the day-long Goodison Good Tyme family festival that begins after the race.
All four races in the event -- including the half marathon, 10K and 5K, as well as a half-mile run for kids -- start and finish at the Paint Creek Cider Mill on Orion Road, along the western edge of Bear Creek Nature Park. From there, runners in the half marathon will head out on a combination of paved roads for the first few miles, followed by a stretch that takes them westward toward the nearby Bald Mountain State Recreation Area, where they'll run through sections of the park trails there before heading back.
Registration will be available on the day of the race at the Paint Creek Cider Mill, and the half marathon is scheduled to start at 9:00 AM, followed by the 10K at 9:10 AM and the 5K at 9:20 AM.
