Event Details

The Park2Park is held every fall in Holland, Michigan, a community in western Michigan that's home to more than 80,000 people and hugs the shoreline of Lake Michigan, 102 miles north of Chicago, just west of Grand Rapids. The Park2Park includes a ½ Marathon run and a 5K run/walk with proceeds supporting Neighbors Plus, a locally based Christian community development association in Holland.

The 1/2 Marathon course is a very fast and flat course. From the starting location at Harderwyk Ministries on the northside of Holland, the course first takes a northeast loop by blueberry farms and sprouting new subdivisions and then heads south to the beautiful Waukazoo Woods neighborhood along the shore of Lake Macatawa, a feeder lake that flows through a short channel into Lake Michigan, centrally located in the center of the City of Holland. The course follows the north shore of Lake Macatawa for over four miles until reaching Holland State Park on Lake Michigan.

After a loop in the State Park and a view of Lake Michigan, the pier and Big Red, the Holland lighthouse, the course heads north on Lakeshore Drive for two miles, following the Lake Michigan coast. The final two miles of the course heads back inland, into farm and residential areas to the finish line at Harderwyk Ministries. It is a paved course, on roads or bike paths, but it is not a closed course. The course is USATF certified.

For friends and family who don't quite feel ready for running a half marathon, the Park2Park race offers a traditional 5K run concurrently, a woodsy neighborhood route including a paved trail loop in Winstrom Park. -- Provided by Park2Park Race Director Sherrie Kornoelje Santos
