The "Twin Cities" are set to host to the second annual running of the 13.1
Marathon Minneapolis in the late summer of 2011, a race that will take
its place as the sixth of the year among a series of eight "13.1
Marathon"-themed half marathon events across the country, a series that
also includes races in Boston, Atlanta, Chicago, New York, Miami Beach,
Los Angeles and
Fort Lauderdale, along a course that will take runners and walkers
through a number of the city's most notable sights and attractions.
Both races in the event, which includes a half marathon and a 5K, are
open to runners and walkers, and will start and finish in downtown
Minneapolis.
Those participating in the half marathon will have three and a half
hours to finish
the race, which will be limited to 3,000 entrants. The race also will
serve as a fundraiser for Team World Vision, a non-profit organization
that seeks to improve the lives of children and communities in Africa.
