Details
Part of a series of six race events in the Twin Cities area that take
place throughout the year called the Monster Marathon Series, the
Downtown Half Marathon, 10-Miler & 5K race takes runners on a
tour of downtown Minneapolis and along the roads that border the
beautiful riverside parks along
the city's stretch of the Mississippi River.
The race -- which is open to both runners and walkers, as are all of
the races in the series -- starts at the area known as The Depot on 2nd
Street South, and
takes runners along West River Road/West River Parkway on an
out-and-back course that features scenic views throughout of the mighty
river. The course is run entirely on paved surfaces, along city
roadways and park pathways.
As with its counterpart in the fall, the Monster Dash 5K & Half
Marathon, the proceeds from the race are donated to the Team Ortho
Foundation, which works to raise money and awareness year-round for
research into diseases that affect the bones and joints.

Weather & Climate
Like its nearby sister city St. Paul, Minneapolis weather is known for
mild, warm summers and cold, cold winters with temperatures that often
drop into the single digits. In June, area temperatures average between
79°F and 58°F, while rainfall amounts average about
4.34 inches for the month -- making June the city's wettest month of
the year.
