Event
Details
Featuring a gorgeously scenic course that takes runners on a tour of
the bays, waterways and regional park areas that make up Lake
Minnetonka just outside the Twin Cities metropolitan area, the Lake
Minnetonka Half Marathon will welcome just over 1,600 participants this
year for the 27th annual running of this road race event. The race
course, which winds around the lake from the town of Wayzata to nearby
Excelsior, follows a point-to-point route that's mostly flat and fast,
and includes many stretches along the shores of the lake.
The course's starting line lies at Wayzata's Wells Fargo Bank (which is
also the race's sponsor) on Superior Boulevard, and takes a mostly
eastward and then southward route along the lake, following a
counter-clockwise direction. All runners -- and the race is open to
runners only -- are limited to 2 hours, 45 minutes on the course, which
will be re-opened to traffic after this time.
