Event Details

Set for its 30th annual running in the spring of 2010, the Wells Fargo Lake Minnetonka Half Marathon saw more than 1,700 runners cross the finish line at the 2009 running of the race. Featuring a gorgeously scenic course that takes runners on a tour of the bays, waterways and regional park areas that make up Lake Minnetonka just outside the Twin Cities metropolitan area. The race course, which winds around the lake from the town of Wayzata to nearby Excelsior, follows a point-to-point route that's mostly flat and fast, and includes many stretches along the shores of the lake.

The course's starting line lies at Wayzata's Wells Fargo Bank (which is also the race's sponsor) on Superior Boulevard, and takes a mostly eastward and then southward route along the lake, following a counter-clockwise direction. All runners -- and the race is open to runners only -- are limited to 2 hours, 45 minutes on the course, which will be re-opened to traffic after this time.

Race Weather & Climate

The early springtime in the Minnetonka/Wayzata area tends to bring warmer and wetter weather conditions, as May temperatures average between 71°F and 47°F. Rainfall amounts during the month average around 3.54 inches.
