Event Details

Named for the maple trees that once were found throughout the formerly rural areas that now make up one of Minnesota's fastest growing cities, Maple Grove will host its first-ever half-marathon and 5K road race event in May 2008, along a course that features more than six miles of trails through the area's scenic parks, bridges and lakes.

Sponsored by the Maple Grove Lions Club, the race takes runners on a clockwise loop through the city starting at the athletic stadium at Maple Grove Senior High School. From there, the course winds through residential neighborhoods and city streets, passing by local landmarks including Lakeview Knolls Park and Kerber Park, and takes runners along the shores of Rice Lake and Rice Pond. Both the half marathon and 5K races share the same starting and finish line, back at the Maple Grove High School stadium.

Participants will be able to register (if you haven't already pre-registered) at the race packet pickup or on the morning of the event, from 6:15 AM to 7:15 AM.

Race Weather & Climate

Like its close neighbor Minneapolis, which lies about 20 miles to its south, the town of Maple Grove tends to see mild to moderately warm summers and very cold winters. In May, temperatures average between 71°F and 47°F, while rainfall amounts average about 3.54 inches for the month.

Fees

$35 if registered by April 18, 2008
$40 after April 18 through the day before the race
