Details
Named for the premiere shopping, dining and entertainment venue in
central Mississippi, the Renaissance at Colony Park Half Marathon will
start and finish at the new Renaissance at Colony Park shopping
destination in Ridgeland, MS. The 13.1-mile race, sponsored by Cellular
South, takes runners from the Renaissance down Highland Colony Parkway,
through neighborhoods, both new and old, and along scenic (paved)
nature trails and back to the Renaissance.
This will be the inaugural running and race highlights are Champion
Chip timing, beautiful finisher's medal, technical t-shirts,
professional race photos by ASI Photo, and a chance to win a new
Pontiac G6 or $25,000 from the local dealership Paul Moak of Ridgeland.
Prize drawings from
Renaissance stores and Fleet Feet Sports will be held. Friday night, a
$15 pre-race pasta meal will be provide at Mint, The Restaurant located
at the Renaissance at Colony Park.
There will be awards and prizes for winners in categories including
Overall, Master and Grand Master, male and female 1st – 3rd
winners will split a minimum winner's purse of $5,250. First Place
($500), second place ($250) and third place ($125) for each category
will be
awarded. Equal prizes for equal efforts!
There's lots of scenery along the course, from beautiful parkways to
amazing neighborhoods. Stretches of the course are tree lined, there
are some rolling hills, and plenty of flat stretches. The race is open
to both runners and walkers, with a starting time of
6:00 AM. The course will be supported with aid stations for 4.5 hours
and will provide water and Gatorade every 1.5 miles.

In June, Ridgeland, MS, sees average monthly temperatures ranging
between 70°F and 91°F, with an average temperature of
80°F.
