Missouri > Run the Burg Half Marathon, 10K & 5K

Set for its 4th annual running along the streets of this small western Missouri city that lies less than an hour's drive from Kansas City, Warrensburg's Run the Burg race features a half marathon, 10K and a 5K race that saw more than 270 runners cross the finish line at its 3rd annual running in 2012, including just over 100 finishers in the half marathon alone.
Runners in all three races share the same starting line, the Johnson County Courthouse near the corner of Holden Street and Market Street, just a few blocks north of the campus of the University of Central Missouri. From there, runners in the half marathon follow an out-and-back course that basically makes a pair of loops through the city that are divided by the university, starting with a clockwise loop through the countryside areas just south of the campus.
In its first couple of miles, the course takes runners through the heart of campus, past Audrey Walton Stadium (the home field for the university's track and field teams) and a number of academic buildings on the way out into the neighborhoods that lie south of campus, where they'll pass by Pertle Springs Lake, the fairways of a golf course, and plenty of wide-open rural areas on the way back into town.
The second half of the race takes runners back toward the university campus and into the neighborhoods east of downtown, as the course heads east along Christopher Street and Division Road. That's followed by a second large clockwise loop along Ridgeview Drive and North Devasher Road, and then a turn back onto Division Road where runners start the trek westward back toward campus and the race finish line back at the courthouse.
Race Weather & Climate
Located just south of I-70 in western Missouri, about 60 miles southeast of Kansas City and roughly 210 miles west of St. Louis, Warrensburg typically sees October temperatures that average between 45°F and 70°F, while rainfall totals average just over 3.1 inches for the month.
On the day of the race (Oct. 5), the average low is 49°F and the average high is 75°F.
