Details
You'll need to be ready for a difficult, challenging 13.1-mile race
course at the annual fall running of this eastern Nebraska town's
Bohemian Alps Endurance Run Half Marathon, which takes runners on a
loop course that starts and finishes downtown and features terrain that
changes from paved to gravel to dirt roads, and mixes in off-road
cross-country and biking trails through the hilly forest areas just
outside town.
From the starting line at Brainard's downtown City Park, runners follow
an out-and-back loop course that features ample views of the natural
beauty surrounding the town, from the farmland that stretches out to
the west virtually as far as the eye can see as well as the
oak-tree-covered hills to the east of town. The course for the half
features just a single mile of paved roads, plus a mile of biking
trails and two miles of off-road course.
Runners planning on taking part in the race should note that the
Bohemian Alps Endurance Run 50K Ultramarathon race takes place on a
different date than the half marathon, four-mile and one-mile race --
the 50K takes place on September 19, while the half marathon is run on
October 10.

Weather & Climate
Located in the eastern part of the state, about 60 miles west of Omaha,
the town of Brainard typically experiences cool to mild weather
conditions in the mid-fall season, and generally much drier weather in
the mid- to late fall than in the spring and early summer. In October,
the town's average monthly temperatures range between 65°F and
43°F, while rainfall totals average just under 2 inches for the
month.

$15 for the 1-mile run
