Details
A mostly flat and even course along the streets that criss-cross
Albuquerque's Kirtland Air Force Base await runners at the annual
springtime running of the Kirtland Air Force Base Armed Forces Day Run,
a half-marathon and 5K event that takes place the weekend before the
Memorial Day holiday. From the starting line at the New Mexico Veterans
Memorial just outside the base on Louisiana Boulevard, runners follow
an out-and-back course that takes them southward into and back out of
the base.
Runners follow a route that stays mostly straight for the early going
of the run, as they cross through Kirtland's Ridgecrest Gate on their
way down Louisiana Boulevard to Randolph Avenue. Once they reach
Randolph, runners make a slight turn to the left and then continue down
Randolph to the intersection with Hardin Boulevard, where they again
turn left and then right onto Pennsylvania.
This part of the race takes
runners all the way down Pennsylvania to the route's half-way
turnaround, where runners then begin the trek back along the course
they've just run back to the finish line at Veterans Memorial Park.

Weather & Climate
Located in the north central part of the state, just over 60 miles
southwest of Santa Fe, the city of Albuquerque typically experiences
mild to moderately warm weather conditions in the late spring, with
little to no rainfall throughout most of the year. In May, the city's
average monthly temperatures range between 80°F and
50°F, while rainfall totals average about half an inch for the
month.
Fees
$25 for the half marathon, if registered by May 10, 2009
$30 between May 11 - 14
$35 between Mat 15 - 16 (race packet pickup)
$40 on the day of the race
