New York > Jailbreak Trail Marathon, Half Marathon & 50K
Dannemora, NY • Sunday, October 13, 2013 • Course Map
Set for its 4th annual running in the fall of 2013, this small trail race -- which usually draws a few dozen runners each year -- in upstate New York takes runners on an out-and-back tour of the old Delaware and Hudson railroad bed.
Runners in all three races start and finish the event in downtown Dannemora, a small town in the Adirondacks that is home to just under 5,000 residents. From there, the course takes runners west through town along Cook Street for most of the first mile or so, and then the race turns south onto Emmons Street for a brief stretch before turning again onto the old railroad bed trail, which runners will remain on for most of the rest of the race.
The half marathon will take runners out to the 6.55-mile point of the course, where they will turn around and then run back in the opposite direction along the route they just ran, all the way back in to Dannemora for the finish line. Those running the full marathon will continue on to the 13.1-mile point before turning around, while those running in the 50K ultra will make their way to the 15.5-mile point before turning back.
