Details
A mixture of paved and dirt roads await runners at the late summer Oak
TreeRace - Half Marathon & 5K. This is the fourth annual race,
held each year
in late August/early September in the small New York town of Geneseo;
located 30 minutes south of Rochester and the shores of Lake Ontario.
About
40 percent of the 13.1-mile course is on dirt roads and takes runners
through the historic Village of Geneseo and past several scenic Oak
Grove
Savannahs.
This course features several live musical groups to add a
unique
flavor to the race, a race you will not forget! Additionally, around
2,800
acres visible from the course are permanently protected open spaces.
These
farms and forests are protected by the Genesee Valley Conservancy, a
local
not-for-profit land trust organization for which these races are run.
Staged in part as a benefit for the Genesee Valley Conservancy, the
racegets its name from the many Oak Grove Savannah fields that line
Nations,
Roots Tavern and Houston Roads. A truly scenic run that has shady
sections
throughout the course.
From the starting line on Route 39 near the Geneseo High School, the
coursewinds through the National Historic Landmark Village of Geneseo,
and then
heads North past horse stables and ample green spaces that line the oak
tree
lined roads. The last few miles bring runners back to the high school
for
the finish line at the high school's track and field facility. Post
race food and massages are provided with entry.

Weather & Climate
The late summer/early fall tends to bring milder, cooler temperatures
to this city near the Finger Lakes region of New York, as Geneseo sees
September temperatures that average between 50°F and
72°F.
Rainfall averages about 3.4 inches for the month.

$30 if registered by one week before the race
$50 in the last week before the race
