North Carolina > Hallowed Half Marathon & 10K
Wake Forest, NC  •  Sunday, October 26, 2014  •  Course Map

The third of three races in Raleigh's Fall Triple Crown Series -- which also includes September's Johnson Lexus Half Marathon and the RunRaleigh Half Marathon, which takes place on the first weekend of October -- the Hallowed Half Marathon is set for its 3rd annual running in 2014 along the streets of Wake Forest, N.C., a gorgeous college town that lies near the famed Research Triangle of North Carolina.

Runners will make their way through the town that was home to Wake Forest University for more than a century, until the university moved about 100 miles west to Winston-Salem in the 1950s. Today, the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary is located on the former Wake Forest University campus near downtown, here in this city that's home to just over 30,000 people in central North Carolina.

The race follows an out-and-back loop route that starts and finishes on Grandmark Street near The Factory, an "eat-shop-play" sports and recreation complex. From there, runners head west on Rogers Road and north along Main Street into downtown, where runners will make a loop around South Avenue, Durham Road and North Avenue.

After this stretch, the next several miles feature a run through largely residential areas, past local parks, homes, golf courses and schools before heading back to The Factory for the race finish.

All runners will need to be able to keep a pace of 16 minutes per mile or faster, organizers note -- anyone who is unable to keep at least this pace will be asked to move to the side of the course, they add. Proceeds from the race also will benefit a pair of locally based nonprofits: The YMCA Community Outreach, which raises money for scholarships and programs for children and families; and the Wake Forest Memorial Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 8466.

Race Weather & Climate
