Details
This year's springtime running of the Ohio River Road Runners Club
Marathon & Half Marathon featured an entirely new course for
2008, an out-and-back route that starts and finishes at the Xenia YMCA
on East
Church Street and takes the field through downtown and along a long,
straightaway stretch out to the turnaround point for the race and back,
along a converted railroad trail that now is used
by walkers, bikers, inline skaters and runners from around the local
area.
Runners, walkers and wheelchair participants are all welcome to compete
in the half marathon -- the marathon is open to runners and wheelchair
entrants only -- and walkers are permitted to start their race early in
advance of the 8:30 AM official race starting time. The terrain for the
race takes the field across a combination of paved surfaces along city
streets and bicycle
paths along the rails-to-trail portion of the course.
A smaller and more low-key race compared to some of the other big-city
metro area races around the state, the ORRRC Marathon & Half
Marathon saw about 476 runners cross the finish line in both races
combined in 2008. Past participants describe it as a mix of a
relatively easy and relatively level course with a few stretches
through wooded bicycle paths and along rural country roads that feature
a few hills here and there.

Weather & Climate
Moderately cool to often cold conditions, with occasional wet weather,
are the norm in the spring in the Xenia area, which is located about 15
miles east of Dayton in the southwestern part of the state. In March,
average area temperatures range between 51°F and 32°F,
while precipitation amounts average around 3.13 inches for the month.

$15 if registered by December 31, 2007
$20 between January 1 - March 1, 2008
$25 between March 2 - 21
$30 on the weekend of the race
