Details
Organized both as a fundraiser for the educational programs at nearby
Tulsa's Oklahoma Aquarium and
as a way to raise awareness about the importance of physical fitness
and a healthy lifestyle for local residents, Jenks's Aquarium Run race
features a range of distances to suit runners of widely varying
abilities, from its 13.1-mile half marathon to the 5K run and the
one-mile "fun run" for both runners and walkers.
Nearly 750 runners crossed the finish line in the half-marathon and 5K
events combined at the race's spring 2009 running, which was its 5th
annual, with more than 350 of those participants running in the
half-marathon alone. The race itself starts and finishes just outside
the Oklahoma Aquarium on Aquarium Drive, overlooking the Arkansas River
flowing by, and takes runners on an out-and-back course along the
streets and roadways that branch out from the Aquarium, along a mostly
flat and fast course.
The event also features a post-race party at the Aquarium's McGraw
Beach on the banks of the river, as well as free admission to the
Aquarium on the day of the race for all registered runners and walkers
in the event.
Race
Weather & Climate
Located near the northeastern corner of the state, just over 13 miles
south of downtown Tulsa, the town of Jenks typically experiences some
if its milder weather conditions of the year in the mid-spring season,
as well as its wettest weather of the year on average. In May, the
area's average monthly temperatures range between 79°F and
56°F, while rainfall totals average just over 5.5 inches for
the month.

$30 for the half marathon, if registered before race day
$35 on the day of the race

Marathon, 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run is now closed, as the event has
completed. Please check back for updated information on how to sign up
for the 2010 running of the race.
