Aquarium Run Half Marathon, 10K, 5K & 1-Mile

Saturday, April 6, 2024 • Jenks, OK • Course Map

Organized both as a fundraiser for the educational programs at nearby Tulsa’s Oklahoma Aquarium and as a way to raise awareness about the importance of physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle for local residents, Jenks’s Aquarium Run features distances to suit runners of widely varying abilities.

The race features its 13.1-mile half marathon as well as 10K and 5K runs and the one-mile “fun run” for both runners and walkers. Between 700 and 800 runners cross the finish line each year the half marathon and 5K events, with more than 300 of those participants running in the half-marathon alone.

The race itself starts and finishes just outside the Oklahoma Aquarium on Aquarium Drive, overlooking the Arkansas River flowing by, and takes runners on an out-and-back course along the streets and roadways that branch out from the Aquarium, along a mostly flat and fast course.

The event also features a post-race party at the Aquarium’s McGraw Beach on the banks of the river, as well as free admission to the Aquarium on the day of the race for all registered runners and walkers in the event.

I have to express my dissatisfaction with the changes you have made in the date of your event. As a three time half-marathon at Jenks Half, I have loved participating on Saturday. There is only one other such race that I know of in the Midwest and that one is in Kansas City. But according to its website, it is on hold. The fact that you have moved up your date by two months is also a hindrance as it would have given much less time to prepare than before. But I do not understand why event organizers choose to race on Sundays. This keeps any Christians away. Why not keep these on Saturdays so that more people would have the opportunity to participate? You have let me down. I cannot come anymore.
