Details
Cross the finish line of this half marathon in Olympic style when you
complete the Jenks Half Marathon, which starts and finishes at the
track and field complex of the city's high school and features "photo
finishes" on the track for every runner who completes the race. About
250 runners took part in the 2007 running of this race (also its 28th
annual), which benefits the Jenks High School Cross Country teams.
Considered a suburban community within the Tulsa, Okla., area, Jenks
offers mostly flat terrain for this out-and-back race, which starts at
the Jenks High School Track and follows a course around the nearby
Jones Airport, within view of the Arkansas River just to the east. The
course has some gently rolling hills, especially in the stretch along
91st Street, which runs through a combination of tree-lined farmland
areas and suburban city streets.
Participants also catch brief glimpses of Jenks's South Lakes Golf
Course and Municipal Park on their way back to the finish line at the
high school. The course is run entirely on paved surfaces, and the half
marathon starting time is 8:00 AM.
