Oregon > Rock & Roll Portland Half Marathon
Portland, OR  •  Sunday, May 19, 2013  •  Course Map  •  Series Calendar

Thousands of runners will take to the streets of western Oregon's largest city at the all-new Rock & Roll Portland Half Marathon, which makes its second annual running through the city in the late spring of 2013, joining a group of nearly 30 "Rock & Roll"-themed races that take place across the country and, with a pair of new races joining the series lineup in Spain and Scotland this year, increasingly across the world as well.

Like all of the races in the Rock & Roll Marathon Series of events, the Rock & Roll Portland Half will feature live bands spaced out roughly every other mile along the course, along with cheerleading squads from local high schools as well as thousands of spectators from the local area joining in to cheer on the runners as they make their way through what is expected to be a fast and flat course through Portland.

Runners will follow and out-and-back course for the race that starts and finishes at Tom McCall Waterfront Park, a small, 30-acre park along the Willamette River that lies right along the Naito Parkway, just south of downtown. Details were still being planned out for the course as of this writing; check back later for more information on which parts of the city runners can expect to run through during the race.

Just over 11,000 runners and wheelchair athletes crossed the finish line at the Rock & Roll Portland's inaugural running in 2012.

Race Weather & Climate

Located near the confluence of the Willamette and Columbia Rivers in northwestern Oregon, roughly 170 miles south of Seattle, Portland typically sees May temperatures that average between 67°F and 49°F, while rainfall totals average just over 2.5 inches for the month, making May one of the city's drier months of the year. On the day of the race (May 19), the average high is 68°F and the average low is 49°F.
