One of two half-marathon events that take place in Allison
Park’s charming, bucolic North Park, which lies in the
northern suburbs of the Pittsburgh metro area, the Chamber Classic Half
Marathon is one of the state’s smaller events (it welcomes
between 100 and 200 runners each year) and is organized and run by the
Northern Allegheny County Chamber of Commerce.
The 13.1-mile race course for the half starts and finishes at the North
Park boathouse,
following a path that takes participants on a clockwise loop around
McKinney Road and around the park’s ice-skating rink, and
then proceeds along two five-mile loops around the lake in the center
of the park. The race then finishes through the tennis court area, back
at the boathouse.
The course’s terrain is described by organizers as mostly
flat throughout the race, with the exception of a steep uphill stretch
at the start of the course. Parking for the event is available at the
park’s Rose Barn parking lot, located on Pearce Mill Road not
far from the North Park boathouse. The race starts at 8:00 AM.

Weather & Climate
Weather conditions can be quite cold in the Wexford area in the early
fall, as October temperatures average between 41°F and
64°F. Rainfall tends to be lower this time of year than in most
of the rest of the year, with about 2.67 inches of average
precipitation during the month.
