Pennsylvania >  Just A Short Run
Allison Park, PA

Date

Saturday, March 29, 2008

Event Details

You'll need to bundle up for the Just A Short Run Half Marathon & Relay races, as the early spring weather can get quite cold in this western Pennsylvania town, in Pittsburgh's northern suburbs. That doesn't seem any deterrent for the more than 1,600 runners, walkers and relay participants who took part in the 2007 running of the race, nearly 50 percent more than the previous year.

It isn't hard to see why, as the course takes participants on a scenic tour of Allison Park's North Park Golf Course, along a mix of gentle, rolling hills and flat terrain, all across entirely paved surfaces throughout the race. The event includes several races -- in addition to the half-marathon, there's a half-marathon relay, a 30K race, and a 5K run/walk, giving potential participants plenty of options for competing or taking it easy while taking in the scenery.

The starting and finish lines for all races are at the North Park boathouse, where you also may register on the day of the race if you haven't registered online or at Allison Park's Elite Runners & Walkers store. All four events also share the same starting time -- 8:00 AM -- and are limited to 4 hours.

Race Weather & Climate

Located about 10 miles north of Pittsburgh in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains, the town of Allison Park is known for cool to cold weather in the early spring, as March temperatures average between 27°F and 50°F. Rainfall averages just over 3 inches for the month.
