Event Details

Known for its beautiful white sand beaches and rolling farmland, the town of Middletown welcomes the 16th annual running of its Newport Federal Savings Bank Half Marathon & 5K in 2007, the only race of its length currently on the state’s road race calendar.

On an out-and-back course that starts and finishes at the town’s YMCA headquarters, the race takes runners, walkers and wheelchair participants on a scenic tour of area beaches and includes a number of challenging hills.

All pre-registered runners receive an official race t-shirt, and race organizers will provide shower and changing facilities on-site at the start of the race. After the finish at the post-race celebration, plenty of juice, soda and food will be on hand for all participants.

While you’re in town, enjoy the scenic drives in and around Middletown, which take drivers to and from the beach areas – surfing, swimming and nature walking are just a few of the most popular pastimes to these Rhode Island oceanfront areas.

Race Weather & Climate

Middletown weather conditions tend to be mild to cool in the early weeks of fall, with October temperatures that average between 48°F and 62°F. Rainfall is always a possibility, as precipitation averages just over 3.7 inches for the month.
