Details
Anyone who's familiar with the big orange tiger paws on the streets and
highways leading into South Carolina's Clemson University knows what
the course will be like at the first annual running of Clemson's Easter
Bunny Run Half Marathon & 5K Run/Walk, which is set for its
second annual running on the Saturday of Easter weekend 2010.
Filled
with a
mixture of hills and flat stretches that take runners on an
out-and-back loop course through the university campus and surrounding
areas, the course for the race will feature hints of the holiday
throughout, as an "easter bunny" leads runners on a bicycle along the
route, along which runners are likely to find easter eggs that they are
free to pick up and bring with them to the finish line for a
"surprise," organizers say.
The course is made up of paved surfaces throughout the race, which
starts and finishes on the Clemson campus just a few blocks away from
Memorial Stadium, the home of the Clemson Tigers football team. From
there, runners follow a route that winds its way through campus, along
Tiger Boulevard just outside campus and leads
back into campus, where runners will follow the route through green,
tree-lined park areas and along the edges of campus before heading back
to the stadium for the finish.
The starting time for the half marathon -- which is open to runners --
is at 8:00 AM, followed by the runners and walkers taking part in the
5K at 8:15 AM. Both races are followed by an easter egg hunt
for children after the race.

Weather & Climate
Located not far from Lake Hartwell, among the hiller and more varied
terrain of the Piedmont region of the state in South Carolina's
northwestern corner, Clemson typically enjoys mild to moderately cool
weather conditions in the early spring, with plenty of wet weather
throughout the year. In April, average monthly temperatures range
between 73°F and 47°F, while rainfall totalsa average
just under 4 inches for the month.

$40 for the half marathon if registered by February 6, 2010
$50 after Feb. 6
$60 on the day of the race
