Event Details

Organized and run to benefit the Swan Lake Christian Camp, a nonprofit that holds summer and winter camps for children ages 4 through high-school seniors, the Swan Lake Marathon, Half Marathon & 5.3-Mile Run takes participants on a tour of the lake and nearby campgrounds of this rural town just outside Sioux Falls. Fast and flat with little change in elevation throughout the race, the half marathon begins and ends at the gateway to the camp, where runners are invited to ring the bell at the finish line as they complete their race.

Designed to be family-friendly, the race also includes a wide range of activities for the spouses, children, families and friends of those participating while they run, including frisbee golf, swimming, canoeing and worship services. The course terrain for both full and half-marathon runners is a mixture of gravel surfaces and paved roads, and runners will also need to be ready for an early start -- to avoid the warmest temperatures of the day, the marathon and half-marathon races begin at 6:00 AM.

Race Weather & Climate

The month of June brings some of the warmest and wettest weather of the year to this small town located in the southeastern corner of the state, about 30 miles from Sioux Falls. Average temperatures during the month range between 81°F and 58°F, while rainfall amounts average about 3.95 inches for the month.
