Tennessee > Music City Half Marathon
Nashville, TN • Sunday, October 13, 2013 • Course Map
Set for its 7th annual running along the banks of the winding Cumberland River that flows through and around downtown Nashville, the Music City Half Marathon has seen a few hundred runners come out to run and cross the finish line each year for a race that's hosted and organized by the Frostbite Running Club, a locally based running and athletic group that organizes races and group runs throughout the year.
Runners start and finish the out-and-back route for the race at LP Field, the home football stadium for Nashville's Tennessee Titans NFL franchise. From there, runners head east and follow Davidson Street out for roughly the first 2.5 miles out from the starting line, and then head onto the Shelby Bottoms Greenway, a roughly 12-mile-long nature and hiking, walking and running trail that winds along the Cumberland River.
Though it's made up of a combination of approximately five miles of paved trails and nearly seven miles of natural surface (including grass, dirt and wood chips) trails, the stretch of the trail that runners follow during the race will be the paved trail sections only.
The race route takes runners all the way out to the half marathon turnaround point just north of the Cornelia Fort Airpark, a small private airport that lies along the river. Once around the turnaround loop, runners then head back along the route they've just run, retracing their steps along both the Shelby Bottoms Greenway and then along Davidson Street for the last three miles or so back in toward LP Field, where runners cross the finish line on Victory Lane.
