Event Details

The spring of 2010 brings the third annual running of the Angie's Half Crazy Half Marathon, a 13.1-mile race that saw just under 340 runners cross the finish line at its inaugural running in April 2008 and will be capped at 1,500 entrants for 2010. With its start and finish lines at the University of Houston's Clear Lake campus, the race takes participants on a largely fast and flat course around the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center, over a bridge that crosses Pasadena Lake and around the edges of Armand Bayou Park in the southeastern corner of the Houston metropolitan area, just outside the city.

From the starting line in the parking lot at the Clear Lake campus, runners follow what one participant in last year's race called a "pancake-flat" route, starting out running north toward Bay Area Park and along Bay Area Boulevard. Runners then turn right onto Red Bluff Road, which they follow for a brief straightaway stretch until they meet up with Kirby Road, which takes them through the Taylor Lake Village residential neighborhoods.

Runners turn right again onto Nasa Lake Road, which takes them along one of the race's most scenic stretches, overlooking the waters of Pasadena Lake as they cross over the bridge that begins at Clear Lake Park. From there, the course continues along the Nasa Parkway to Saturn Lane, where runners turn right again for the final third of the race, which takes them back up to the campus for the finish.

The Angie's Half Crazy event is open to both walkers and runners, and proceeds benefit high school students who participate in cross-country running in the local area.
